AEF is proud to support the ASD Aeronautics program. The aviation program at Aspen High School is one of very few aviation schools in the country. This program exposes students to all areas of aviation – a huge industry and future career path. The students in the aviation program will go on to work in air traffic control, mechanics, engineering, or as pilots. The Aeronautics program begins at ASD in seventh grade with focused classes on aviation as an elective. Beginning in ninth grade, qualifying students are able to begin logging time in the air, primarily at the Aspen Airport. If a student chooses to pursue taking flight and their pilot’s license, the Aspen Flight Academy (AFA) has certified flight instructors that take them in the air!
